Bloodletting-The act of drawing blood from a donor to feed upon. Also an album by
Concrete Blonde, with the lovely song, "The Vampire Song."
Blood Play-Sometimes used as an RP term. Similar to blood fetishes. Blood and sex.
Burning Times-Refers to the killing of accused witches during the European witch hunts.
Classical Vampire-A term often used when talking about a Sanguine Vampire. Though
there have been arguments on this.
Childe-RPG term. The offspring of a vampire.
Clan-Often used in RPGs. A group of characters assimilated by the bloodline or by choice.
Coven-A group of witches that gather on a regular basis to practice their religion.
Donor-A willing individual who gives their own blood and or energy.
Elder-A vampire that has established his or herself well within the vampire ranks and
organizations. Usually the founder of a House. Used in RPGs and IRL.
Elemental Vampirism-A vampire that feeds from the *energy given from the elements,
including storms of all sorts.
Embraced-An RP term. Transforming a mortal into a vampire by draining their blood and
replacing it with vampires' blood.
Energy Signature-Term used to describe the unique aura or energy structure that each
individual has.
Fangs-Elongated canine teeth. They are often used to identify the vampire in books and
movies. Many use false (caps) over their own teeth for show, while others have permanent
fangs for personal cosmetic reasons.
Fledgling-RPG term. A newly born/*awakened vampire.
Frenzy-Another RPG term. Losing control of yourself and allowing the 'beast' within
yourself to take over.
Grounding-To allow excess energies flow from you, out. Often performed though
visualization techniques. The 'growing roots' method is familiar when grounding.
Ka- The ancient Egyptian name for the astral self.
Kindred- Another vampire, used normally in RP.
Latent vampire-A person that does not know He or She is a Vampire until going through the
Awakening process later in life.
Lord Byron-An English poet who was a major contributor to the image of the vampire with
such poems as, "The Vampyre," "Carmilla," and "Varney the Vampire."

Psychic Vampire-Someone who drains the life-energy rather than blood from others. Some
of these vampires are even able to draw energy out of nature itself. There are some that do
not realize they are Psychic vampires.
